New James Alan Shelton Site

by on Aug.19, 2010, under General, Websites

The staff of Stewie Hues Media is proud to announce the launch of a new more robust website for James Alan Shelton. James is the lead guitarist and road manager for legendary bluegrass and mountain music performer Dr. Ralph Stanley. James has worked with Stanley over the last 17 years. In those years he has performed throughout the United States, Canada and several foreign countries.

James is known as an Ambassador of bluegrass and Clinch Mountain style of music. Growing up in the hills of Scott County, VA James was heavily influenced by the Carter Family, the Stanley Brothers, and Bill Monroe. A major influence to James is George Shuffler. Shuffler was a major contributor the Stanley Brothers sound, with his crosspicking style of playing. James continues the steeped foundation laid down by Shuffler. His style of playing is rather unique as others may add notes to ‘jazz” up a song James plays the melody. As one listens to the traditional “Faded Love” you can hear his ’46 Martin D-28 “sing’ the words.

Stewie Hues founder Sid Bolden met James on May 1, 1999 in Warrenton, VA. Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys played before a crowd on the old carnival lot at the fire station.

“It was a day I will never forget. Not only did I meet Ralph Stanley that day, but I met James Alan. Over the years James and I have become the best of friends. I hope you enjoy the site and return often as James will keep everyone posted on the happenings of not only his career but also important updates on Dr. Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mountain Boys.”
